WHAT WE DO
SAMOM delivers a range of free and affordable programmes for everyone in our community - designed to empower people, nurture connection, and spark new opportunities.
OUR WHY
People need people.
Connection, fellowship, and belonging are essential for wellbeing.
Too often, isolation erodes mental health and hope – we’re here to change that.
At SAMOM, we believe in nurturing people from the inside out. By providing safe spaces, supportive programmes, and opportunities to connect, we strengthen not just individuals, but families and the wider community.
Our goal is sustainable transformation:
equipping people with tools, mindset, and support to create their own futures.
WHAT'S ON
At SAMOM, everything we do is about empowering people, building connection, and creating opportunities.
Our programmes are designed to remove barriers, nurture wellbeing, and encourage the community to grow stronger together.
Whether it’s through fitness, food, friendship, or learning new skills, we believe change starts at grassroots level - one step, one class, one gathering at a time.

Night Markets
A platform for locals to start their own food businesses and share their talents. These markets have helped families generate income and showcase Papakura’s diverse culture.

Brekky Club
50+A relaxed and welcoming space for older members of our community. Enjoy porridge, a cooked breakfast, rewana bread, cakes, coffee, and conversation – all for $10. It’s about more than food; it’s about belonging.

Zumba & Stretch Classes
Free community classes that break down barriers to fitness. No gym memberships, no labels – just come as you are, move your body, and feel good.

Community Activations
From food parcels in the past to empowerment-focused initiatives today, we’re committed to planting seeds that grow into lasting change, not dependence.

Classes and courses
As well as regular programmes, we also offer a wide variety of classes that bring people together, celebrate culture, and encourage personal growth. Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, connect with others, or just try something different, there’s something here for everyone.
Some of the classes on offer include:
Kapa Haka
Guitar
First Aid
Te Reo Māori classes
Mums’ hangouts

…and much more
