READY, SET, GO!

Changing MINDSETS together, from zero to HERO!

Welcome to the online home of the SAMOM Trust.

You'll find us at 18R Smiths Ave in Papakura.

This is your community, your space. Browse the site to see what we offer, and if you’d like to be part of it -  we’d love to hear from you.

At SAMOM, we believe lasting change begins with mindset.

Based at Smiths Ave Reserve in Papakura, our name stands for Smiths Ave / Unity & Completion and Mind Over Matter.

Together, these represent the power of community, faith, and a shared commitment to transformation. Through free programmes, community activations, and grassroots initiatives, we’re creating sustainable change from the inside out.

OUR STORY
SAMOM is more than a name – it’s a philosophy.

SA represents Smiths Ave

our home and community, and also the Hebrew meaning of unity and completion.

MOM stands for Mind Over Matter

the belief that with the right mindset, we can rise above challenges and create real change.

We stand on a foundation of faith, resilience, and aroha. By setting our minds on growth and freedom, we empower ourselves and others to change not only our own lives but the environment around us.

"There’s a pepeha connecting the hall to its history and place, and nearby are two pieces of art that speak to the most important change happening at the Smiths Ave reserve: a heart on the front of the building and a huge print of the word ‘aroha’ at the rear."

HONOURING THE JOURNEY
The Smiths Ave Community Centre is a co-designed project, led by local whānau, community members, and Auckland Council.

We acknowledge that the Smiths Ave Reserve has been a 20-year journey, not only for Auckland Council but also for the neighbouring streets and community connected to it.

We honour and thank the many trusts and whānau who worked tirelessly through challenges over those two decades, carrying the baton with dedication. Their hard mahi has laid the foundation we stand on today.

To everyone who has been part of this journey and made it their own - we thank you. Because of your commitment, we walk carefully and respectfully into new spaces, mindful of the paths already forged by these warriors.

It is through the efforts of those who came before that we are able to continue carrying this mantle and mandate forward.
