MATARIKI NEW YEAR

To celebrate the marking of Matariki / a Maori new year, SAMOM put together an event to include the wider community. Our event served to celebrate Maori culture through dance, waiata, a wonderfully well recieved poi challenge, and the sharing of food hangi.

With over 300 attendees at our 2021 event, a host of wonderful volunteers, and a record 100 participants in our poi challenge, we look forward to taking the event to the next level in 2022, with even more to celebrate as Matariki is now marked as a public holiday!
